Sammo Research and Consulting (Sammo) is a dynamic consultancy firm that brings together a team of development Specialists from different disciplines to provide independent and quality services to governments and humanitarian organizations in the Horn of Africa countries, i.e., Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia but with experience in other parts of the world. The firm provides a variety of consultancy services on social and development issues. This includes Baseline and End-Line Surveys, Research, Evaluation, & Monitoring (REM), capacity building & skills development, translation and interpretation, and media, communications & public relations.

Job description

Sammo is seeking Pre-qualified Enumerators (40 Enumerators) for the research activities in Somalia. The Pre-qualified Enumerators will participate in all activities to be carried out by Sammo and all partnerships with stakeholders. The Pre-qualified Enumerator shall carry out data collection activities during implementation and surveys as follow; Baseline survey, KAP survey, End line survey, and Research studies. The Pre-qualified Enumerator shall perform data entry activities and any other duties assigned by the Team Leader. The position is a short-term contract based on a need-for-work basis and is not a full-time role. The roles may require frequent travel and days spent in the field.

Specific Responsibilities

The enumerator will be responsible for the following:

• Assist the research officer in collecting data as per the program/project requirements.

• Seek out respondents who fit the suggested profiles in assigned locations and collect data based on questionnaires developed and supplied by the program.

• Gather and accurately record responses on questionnaires provided by the research team

• Ensure that questionnaires have been thoroughly checked and completed.

• Submit completed questionnaires and other equipment used in fieldwork to the research team

• Participate in briefings, and carry out data collection, data entry, and/or reporting.

• Recognize and give an account of problems in obtaining data and provide useful feedback from field research activities

Skills And Qualifications

The enumerator should have the following experience and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social science, public policy, or related fields.

• 2 to 3 years of field research experience

• Previous experience in data collection, administering questionnaires and conducting interviews, data collection, and data entry;

• Experience with mobile data collection platforms like SurveyCTO, OKD, etc

• Experience with local governments, authorities, and communities;

• Willingness to learn and explore new experiences;

• Fluency in speaking and understanding English and Somali languages.
