Press officer requirement

What you’ll do in this role:

• Produce high-quality press content that helps promote and amplify the Hormuud brand in the media. Including: pitches, briefing notes, press releases and op-eds
• Maintain close relationships with domestic journalists through regular calls or meetings
• Liaise with Hormuud’s communications consultancy to support them deliver their international media programme. You’ll source and draft case studies, spot media opportunities within the business and Foundation, and help craft narratives.
• Respond to incoming journalist requests, working with senior team members and our external communications consultancy as needed
• Stay on the pulse of relevant domestic and international media, flagging insights and opportunities
• Identify and flags any risks arising from media coverage, internationally and regionally
• As you develop, there is potential to take on the role of company spokesperson for international and domestic media

Experience/skills required:

 Fluency in English and Somali (both spoken and written) is essential

• Meticulous attention to detail and strong copywriting ability
• Degree in related field e.g., Journalism or English would be preferred
• A background in journalism is preferred
• Experience working in copywriting, content production, communications, or PR is essential
• Confident public speaker
• 3 years of professional experience
