Job Description

Position: Quran Teacher

Reporting to: Primary Head Teacher

Location: Hargeisa, Somaliland

Contract Type: Fixed Term

We are looking for an experienced Quran Teacher to join our team and to make a significant contribution to the vision and direction of the Pharo Foundation primary school, where innovative and inspirational learning for all is the core value.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The position holder reports directly to the Head Teacher but works in conjunction with the

entire Quran School.

Teaching students to read Quran with proper Tajweed. Helping students memorise the Quran.

Developing a positive relationship with the students within the Islamic guidelines.

Evaluating each student and creating teaching strategies based on the individual’s pace.

Tracking the progress of each child and maintaining records.

Taking responsibility for the progress of students in Quran, across the school.

Preparing lesson plans and outlines in accordance with the curriculum guidelines or

requirements of the school or government.

Cultivating and promoting love for Islam and Islamic values within students.

Maintaining a positive degree of discipline inside and outside the classroom in order to create a safe, secure and appropriate environment for learning.

Actively participating in all school meetings and school activities such as sports days, cultural activities, and plays.

Maintaining close contact with parents and discussing the student’s academic progress and general development.

Be cognizant of the school’s policies, aims, objectives and organisational procedures in such a way as to contribute positively, sensitively and harmoniously to the student’s achievements.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Islamic or related discipline.

A minimum of two years of teaching experience in Primary school level education. In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures.

A thorough understanding of best practices in teaching. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Have a knowledge and understanding of basic principles of curriculum design, child learning

theory, and behavioral approach.

Must have strong knowledge of Quran.

Must be able to teach the students with a proven track record. Demonstrate the ability to teach basic Islamic curriculum.

Classroom instructional experience is preferable. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all studies.

Have a caring and nurturing attitude towards young learners. Must be able to work with school computer software.

Salary and Benefits

The salary and benefits package is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Medical insurance is provided in accordance with The Primary School’s Health policy.
