Project Coordinator – Hargeisa, Somaliland

Somaliland Youth Peer Education Network (Somaliland Y-PEER) is youth led initiative which promotes reproductive health rights, fights all types of gender-based violence, enhances youth employment opportunities and develops leadership and entrepreneurship of young people in Somaliland. Its main office is in Hargeisa with regional offices in Erigavo and Burao cities of Somaliland.

Duration: One year with a possibility of extension,

Description of the position.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the management, coordination, planning, designing, implementing, reporting, and managing of the overall activities of Mustaqbaldoon Project in the Maroodijeeh region, Hargeisa, Somaliland. S/he will also be responsible for communicating and engaging with partners, donors, line ministries, and other key stakeholders.

Mustaqbaldoon is a youth potentiality development project in Somaliland co-implemented by Deaconess Foundation and Somaliland Y-PEER and supported by Finland MFA.

Key Responsibilities and Duties;

The Project Coordinator performs the following key responsibilities under the supervision of the Executive Director.

• Responsible for the planning of the project activities in accordance with the approved project plan and budget.
• Ensure that the project is implemented in time and within budget.
• Lead project staff and provide them capacity development trainings
• Responsible for managing and overseeing implementation of the project activities in coordination with project staff, partner organizations, key stakeholders and DF.
• Monitor the local context, and in case of a situation that affects the project, modify accordingly based on agreed-upon policies and procedures.
• Develops a detailed work plans with the peer educators and other project staff
• Develop quarterly and annual project narrative reports
• Regularly monitor the use of funds by ensuring that budget is line with the approved activities and outputs.
• Provide regular updates and report to DF team on quarterly basis and supervise and monitor the work plans of the project staff
• Ensure that all project records are kept secure, accurate and up-to-date,
• Conduct monitoring visits to project activities and mentor, advice and coach the project staff
• Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement and lessons learned
• Keep updated about the project activities and progress to the local authorities through a formal reports and meetings.
