Duty Station: Burao, infrequently with traveling Hargeisa

Organization Background
Barwaaqo Voluntary Organization (BVO) is a non-political, non-governmental, and non-profit making development action-oriented and advocacy organization that was founded in 1996 by a committed gender-balanced group in Somaliland. BVO strives to perform social development work in Somaliland and has been implementing climate change, environmental protection, and livelihood programs in the country, which enables the finding of solutions to Somaliland’s environmental challenges. BVO fights hunger and promotes poverty reduction, human rights, women’s and children’s rights, and justice for all.
BVO has also been involved in women’s political participation and economic empowerment and provides FGM awareness campaigns as well as implements projects aimed to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) in Somaliland. BVO operates in all six regions of Somaliland.
Position Summary
The project manager is responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating the implementation of the Food Assistance Program (FAP) project, entitled Nourishing Communities: Restoring Resilience through improved food and nutrition security to vulnerable rural and displaced communities in Somaliland, particularly in Buroa District, Tog-dheer Region. She/he will manage and supervise the project staff and other project resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for directing, controlling and reviewing project plans, assessments, monitoring activities, learning and evaluations.
- Coordinate with farmers, farmer’s associations, private service providers, inputs suppliers, traders, processors.
- Design and organize training programs to address challenges for farmers including improved agricultural practices leading to increased productivity and quality.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Perform risk management analysis to reduce project risks.
- Responsible for submitting reports to leading agency.
- Creating and maintaining the relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Responsible for safeguarding and proper utilization of the project equipment.
- Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
- Manage changes in the project scope, schedule, and costs.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Obey and implement organizational policies and procedures.
- The program Manager will be responsible for supervising and managing all the activities
- Any Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or the management team.
- Completion of a university degree qualification in the relevant field (e.g., business management, community development, development studies, or other social sciences studies).
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in the humanitarian or community development sector.
- Willingness and fitness to travel and stay in the field for sustained periods of time.
- Experience of working with/supporting local communities in Somaliland
- Experience with running assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and other learning efforts.
- Leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
- excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people from a variety of professional and national backgrounds
- Ability to work under pressure and to cope with a high workload.
- Demonstrated training and facilitation skills
- Excellent English-speaking writing skills and the ability to write and deliver standard reports and other related documents with matching deadlines.
- Willingness to be based in Burao and frequently travel to field locations mainly Hargeisa
You may be required to work irregular hours in accordance with the needs of the role
