Background:  

The DRC Somalia Programme is the largest programmes in East Africa region and has been providing relief and development services since 1997. DRC is among the INGOs with the largest presence in Somalia, with country-wide programmes implemented through six main sub offices in Somaliland, Puntland, Hiran Region, Gedo Region, Bay Region and Banadir Region. Using a human rights framework, the DRC Somalia operations focuses mainly on people who are affected by displacement, including refugees, internally displaced, and migrant.

Overall Purpose of the role:
Responsible for Undertaking implementation of protection activities in the Dolow including emerging emergencies such as drought responses, new arrivals and displacement in Dolow and field across Jubbaland. The case worker will be responsible for providing case management support in line with key protection principles including best interests of the client, confidentiality, do no harm and child participation. The case worker will oversee provide quality, timely and age-appropriate survivor-centered case management services and psychosocial support as well as prevention activities. The case worker will work in Dolow conducting house visits; follow up and monitoring of protection concerns, or at risk in line with case management guidelines.

Responsibilities: 
•    Provide individualized orientations on services to support clients through social service referrals, medical access and advocacy services by assessing and evaluating each client’s needs.
•    Coordinate referrals and advocate with partner organizations supporting GBV survivors to provide confidential services to clients, in accordance with their wishes, GBV guiding principles and informed consent.
•    Utilize provided GBV data management tools (GBVIMS) and systems to record information about clients’ access to services, in line with the principle of confidentiality, and utilize aggregate information to improve service delivery.
•    Support capacity building and coordination of activities in the settlement, including delivering training sessions to local partner organizations, community structures and women groups on case management principles, GBV core concepts, GBV guiding principles, referral pathway etc.
•    Ensure compliance with case documentation, case file management and reporting requirements including assess and monitor client progress at regular intervals to ensure progress on goals is made; designated resources are maximized as per CM steps.
•    Conduct initial and follow up assessments for GBV cases and prioritize them according to risks levels.
•    Develop case plans that respond to needs addressed in initial and comprehensive assessments and seek support of supervisor when necessary.
•    Regularly follow up to ensure all services and action points listed in the case plan are carried out within agreed time frames. Ensure that progress is regularly reviewed.
•    Facilitate and conduct Awareness Raising campaigns (16 days of activism against GBV)
•    Attending and also Conduct rapid needs and assets assessments to identify risks and vulnerabilities. Including those related to gender and age. Develop concrete initiatives to reduce these risks and specific strategies to build upon assets within the population.
•    Assess protection needs and identify problems/gaps and propose/priorities timely practical actions to respond to particular protection problems
•    Assist the team leader to prepare and submit Protection Project Implementation Tracker & 5W Reporting (PITAR)
•    Organize and submit monthly protection monitoring system questionnaire in target IDPS through phone in Key inform
•    Prepare and provide weekly, Monthly and update Quarterly report and portfolio, presentations on timely manner
•    Ensure that data collection and storage respect data protection protocols and confidentiality principle.
•    Any other duty assigned by the line Manager


Education, experience & technical competencies. (include years of experience)

 Essential:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social work, or other relevant degree
•    At least 2 years of experience in Social Work and Case Management Intervention
•    Degree of social science department of Community Development is an added advantage
•    Other trainings in protection
•    Protection in Humanitarian Emergency Training conducted by DRC
•    Protection and advocacy training by UNHCR
•    GBV prevention and response training conducted by DRC
•    Psycho- social first Aid (PFA) training held by the DRC
•    Protection information system held by the DRC
•    Attend protection mainstreaming training held by DRC
•    Skills: Team work, analytical skills, negotiation and communication skills
•    Flexibility and ability to work under pressure (responding to high risks cases)
•    Computer skills: Microsoft office.
Languages:
•    Fluency in written and spoken Somali & English.

Conditions

Availability:     July 2022
Duty station:    Dolow
Reporting to:   CCCM Team Leader/Site Management Team Leader

Duration:         9 Months with possibility of extension based on performance and funding

Contract:        This position is graded as Band H2-Non-Management for qualified national staff and the terms of employment will be in accordance with DRC terms for national staff.
