INVITATION TO BID (ITB)

Introduction:

Somalia has experienced torrential rainfall during the past GU’ and Dayr seasons, resulting in significant losses and damages including the devastation of public and private properties such as roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and markets across various regions and districts. Moreover, the El-Niño floods have not only caused destruction OF infrastructure but have also severely impacted key production sectors like farms, crops, and livestock in the aforementioned areas.

As a result, the total affected population has exceeded 2.48 million, with approximately 1.1 million people displaced and 118 fatalities attributed to these powerful El-Niño floods. The most severely affected individuals are from Jubbaland, South West, and Hirshabelle States, where thousands of vulnerable people currently lack shelter, food, and clean water.

Additionally, SSC Estate has encountered similar challenges due to conflict with Somaliland, leading to displacement and property destruction. Consequently, these individuals urgently require immediate shelter assistance, especially with the GU’ rain season approaching within the next two months.

Assistance to the people affected by disaster

The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) intends to utilize a portion of the funds received from the Chinese government to support three districts in three different Federal Member States. These areas were severely impacted by the El-Nino flood, resulting in extensive damage to both public and private properties, including community homes. Additionally, SSC Estate was affected by war, resulting in losses similar to those experienced in areas hit by the El-Nino phenomenon. The targeted districts are Beltweyn, Bidoa, Dolow, and Lasanod, where 1600 households lack proper shelter.
