VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

PositionPsychosocial Assistant

Responsible to: Project Officer                               

Location: Burao (with regular field trips)

Duration of contract: 12 months (with possibility of extension)                                   

Closing date : 22nd June 2022

ROLE OF THE EMPLOYEE

Position will be based in Burao, under the direct line-management of  project Psychologist and functional management of project manager.  She/he will be responsible to:

ACTIVITY IMPLEMENTATION (90%)

  • Work as mobile/outreach psychosocial team to identify, register and analyse specific needs as well as  needs of psychosocial supports of project targeted beneficiaries (such as persons with disabilities, persons with psychosocial distress, elderly people etc)
  • Develop a community approach to ensure a confidence in HI process and project.
  • Provide counselling sessions (individual and group) to identified person with psycholgical distress.
  • According to the needs identified and the internal referral received, organize; different group psychosocial and recreational  sessions according to the integrated approach through mobile safe space(women and children)
  • With the support and advices of Project Psychologist, define the objectives of the group sessions and the relevant participants.
  • Conduct the different psycho-social group activities, adapted and appropriate to each one’s specific needs and capacities.
  • Prepare the referral list of all identified cases on psychosocial and mental health issue and shared with Project Psychologist on timely manner.

ACTIVITY FOLLOW UP AND REPORTING (10%)

  • Ensure a qualitative follow up of the beneficiaries and document the follow up according to the monitoring plan
  • Ensure a daily quantitative and qualitative reporting through the tools (assessment form, follow up form, discharger and monitoring form, donation certificate, groups report) and system in place.
  • Organization of the weekly plan within the Mobile Psychosocial and protection team, with the support of Project Psychologist and Protection Officers
  • Any other reports to be made upon line manager request.

OTHERS (To demonstrate an ethic and professional practice):

  • Respect beneficiary confidentiality and accountability.
  • Treat them with respect and dignities.
  • Respect, promote and implement all HI’s Safe Guarding Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
  • Address needs and requests in a professional way.
  • Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
  • Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers.
  • Always respect a refusal of treatment.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor University degree in social work or  sociology  or psychology
  • At least 2 years of field experience in direct community psychosocial services (identification , carry out group sessions, different result based group activities/recreational activities etc session)
  • Good Knowledge on basic group facilitation skills.
  • Good knowledge of child and adult development and learning.
  • Good knowledge of safe identification and referral principles.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills,
  • Strong organizational skills,
  • Ability to work under high pressure,
  • English mandatory (oral and written)

Conditions

  • Status: Service contract with salary according to experience
  • Start: July 2022
  • Duration: 12 months (possible extension)
