| 1. Organizational Background |
HIDIG Relief and Development Organization (HRDO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and impartial organization established in 2000 by Somali professionals from the diaspora. HIDIG operates across South-Central Somalia, focusing on improving the well-being of vulnerable communities, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs) and hard-to-reach populations in Southern Somalia. The organization implements programs in health, nutrition, education, protection, WASH, and livelihoods, with an emphasis on sustainability, local ownership, and emergency response.
| 2. Overall Job Purpose |
HIDIG plans to implement a project titled ”Provision of Essential Lifesaving Primary Health Services to Vulnerable Communities in Under-Served and Hard-to-Reach Areas” (Project Code: 36514) in Beledweyne district, Hiraan region. Funded by the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) under the 2025 1st Standard Allocation, the project aims to reduce excess morbidity and mortality by improving access to primary healthcare for communities affected by climatic shocks and conflict.
Aligned with the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP), the intervention supports emergency responses in priority districts and promotes the health rights and resilience of at-risk populations.
| 3. Position 1: Qualified Nurses (8 Positions) |
Eight (8) Qualified Nurses will be deployed across fixed health facilities and mobile teams. They will be responsible for delivering outpatient consultations, emergency and trauma care, and supporting EPI services for both under-five and over-five patients.
| A. Key Responsibilities |
- Conduct clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment of under-five and over-five patients.
- Provide emergency care and first aid during trauma or acute presentations.
- Support vaccination services as part of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).
- Ensure accurate patient records and medical documentation are maintained.
- Report to the Medical officer and MEAL Officer with weekly and monthly service data and updates.
- Follow national treatment guidelines and standard protocols.
- Support community outreach activities through the mobile health team.
- Collaborate with midwives, doctors, and other health staff to ensure holistic patient care.
- Report notifiable diseases and maintain infection prevention control standards.
- Participate in health promotion and awareness sessions when required.
| B. Required Qualifications |
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 2 years of experience providing outpatient care in health facilities or emergency response.
- Experience in EPI, IMCI, and emergency treatment protocols is preferred.
- Ability to work in both fixed health centers and mobile outreach teams.
- Familiarity with national health service standards and data reporting.
- Fluency in Somali; basic English language skills are an advantage.
- Strong ethical, clinical, and communication skills.
| 4. Position 2: Auxiliary Nurses (3 Positions) |
Three (3) Auxiliary Nurses will be assigned to support clinical and nutritional services in health facilities, Primary Health Units (PHUs), and mobile outreach points, including Outpatient and ORP (Oral Rehydration Point) corners.
| A. Key Responsibilities |
- Register beneficiaries and support accurate data collection.
- Measure weight, height, and Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) of children.
- Assist nurses during outpatient consultations and emergency care procedures.
- Support triage and patient flow management.
- Report weekly and monthly activities and data to the Project Officer and MEAL Officer.
- Help set up and maintain clean clinical environments.
- Monitor patients at ORP corners and refer severe cases to the nurse in charge.
- Provide assistance during community outreach and mobile clinic sessions.
| B. Required Qualifications |
- Certificate in Community Nursing or Health Assistant training.
- At least 1 year of experience in basic clinical or nutritional services.
- Knowledge of anthropometric measurement and patient documentation.
- Willingness to work in flexible shifts and in rural or mobile environments.
- Strong attention to detail and patient care ethics.
- Fluency in Somali is required.
