Terms of reference for Training Facilitator
- Introduction
Network against FGM/C in Somaliland (NAFIS) is a non-political, non-governmental and humanitarian network. NAFIS was established in late 2006 in Hargeisa by several local NGOs working towards the eradication of FGM/C. Currently, NAFIS has a membership of 20 organizations operating in all the regions of Somaliland. As the only nationwide network of its kind, the main purpose of NAFIS is to combat all forms of FGM/C in Somaliland through coordination and networking, policy framework, research, and documentation, capacity building for the key stakeholders, and media awareness.
NAFIS Network is implementing a project entitled” Community-driven FGM/C Abandonment and Women Empowerment, the core objective of the project is to improve member’s capacity to adapt to the changing context, NAFIS Network will build operational and institutional capacity, thereby improving the resilience and effectiveness of women-led grassroots organizations. The NAFIS network conducted organizational capacities assessment in its member organizations, the assessment report findings denoted some capacity gaps which need to address holistically and effectively. End of the capacity building, the project will deepen the knowledge and skills of the member’s staff to enhance their organization’s operational capacity.
- Purpose and Objective
NAFIS Network is looking for a short-term consultant/facilitator to provide capacity-building training for 20NAFIS member organizations. The capacity building training aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the member’s Staff in areas of Fundraising. The consultant will equip the training participants the necessary tools and guidelines to improve their fundraising capabilities.
NAFIS member organizations. The consultant will train 40 people from 20 NAFIS member organizations members and will equip them practical skills for contemporary Fundraising, Review, and develop fundraising Strategies of the NAFIS member organizations member organizations. Similarly, train the participants to develop a Fundraising Plan to acquire knowledge and skills of resource mobilization to secure organizational sustainability.
- Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks
- Develop Training materials share with NAFIS Network to approve
- Prepare handouts.
- Assess the capacity and prospects for CSO’s fundraising strategy goals and actions, review existing fundraising action plans if applicable.
- Methodologies
The consultant is expected to use the best and effective approach for training facilitation. The training should be interactive and proactive for learning by doing, and responding to demand the NAFIS member organizations, the training methodology should respond to the needs of the NAFIS member organizations, and it should be integrated which means the training activities should reflect and support NAFIS member organizations to design and formulate the Fundraising plan and strategy. Similarly, the consultant also should keep in the mind adaptation of the following methods, Presentation, Brainstorming and discussion session, storytelling and Questions and answers, and role-play.
- KEY DELIVERABLES
At end of the training, the participants from the NAFIS member organizations will learn
- Assess NAFIS member organizations staff knowledge and skills on fundraising
- Review their organizational fundraising strategies.
- Ensure member organizations understand the nature of fundraising
- Support Member organizations develop/update fundraising strategic plan for their organizations
- Identify and Introduce potential donors, funding agencies and their requirements
- Put together a funding strategy and fundraising plan
- Develop a follow up action plan to ensure members applied acquired skills in their work.
- Duration of the assignment
The consultant will work 10 days, day to develop training materials and 1 day for compiling the training report, and 8 days for training for 20 NAFIS member organizations. The consultant will carry out two training sessions each training session will host 20 participants with 4 days each.
- Time Frame and location
The Training will be held in Hargeisa, Somaliland from 23th_26th August 2021, and the second session will be held from 30thAugust_ 2nd September 2021.
- Qualification, Skills, and Experience Required
- The consultant should have demonstrated skills and a track record of 6 years of experience in providing capacity building for NAFIS member organizations
- Have practical experiences in resource mobilization and fundraising skills for NAFIS member organizations.
- Have good interpersonal and training facilitation skills
- Have a bachelor degree in project Planning, and Management, organization development, or related field from a recognized university
- Have strong communication skills in English and Somali
- Have strong knowledge of training facilitation
