SCOPE OF WORK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspectors are charged with the establishment, maintenance and improvement of standards of education in both regional and district levels.
They collect data and information that will inform MOEHE on the trends in standard and achievements in education institutions within the regions and districts
Play the role of a supervisor as well as advisor on quality of education offered.

Carry out inspections of schools and colleagues in the following areas

Routine/advisory inspection
Panel inspections
Special inspection- school registration/ misappropriation of school improvement funds
Confirming state of examination centers
To ensure and support preparation of School Improvement plans in all schools in the region and districts.
Provide advisory and consultancy services pertaining to design, development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum
Organizing in- service training for primary, secondary and teachers education colleges
Liaise with State examination council to asses all levels of education (formal/ non-formal) in schools and colleges in participating in setting, moderating and marking of examination
Distribution and submission examination forms for all examination levels
Initiating appropriate in-service programs to address needs which the inspectorate has identified in the region and district.

Monitor and ensured the proper use for calendars and registers
Monitor and ensured the proper use of teaching and learning material

Administering and organizing co-curricular activities in schools and colleges

Conduct training for head-teachers on school management
Carry out any other duties assigned by Director General and Director of Quality Assurance

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Bachelor Degree of Education, PA, BA, Public policy and Management.
Minimum 5 years as teacher or principal and 2 years for working as an Education supervisor
Experience in Education management is an added value.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

A progressive attitude and professional manner.

Sound decision-making skills including analytic and problem-solving skills.

Sound leadership, managerial and supervisory skills.

Ability to maintain a high standard of ethics, honesty and integrity in carrying out the goals and objectives of the Unit.

Ability to effectively manage and supervise the budget and activities/programmes of the District Education Office.

Ability to motivate, counsel and mentor staff.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
