Introduction

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organization to which all SOS Children’s Villages including SOS Children’s Villages Somalia Association is affiliated. SOS Children’s Villages Somalia has officially been working in Somalia since 1985. SOS is currently working in 134 countries worldwide. We are committed to the welfare of children – often throughout the whole of their childhood, and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect. We also run education and health facilities. With the SOS Children’s Village concept, the organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Children’s Villages upholds child protection policy and our selection processes reflect our commitment to the protection of children and youth from abuse. Banadir Region (Heliwa, Wadajir, Dharkenley and Dayninle districts) southwest-state (Baidoa, Burhakaba, Berdale, Baidoa and Hudur) and Hirshabelle State (Jowhar, Adale & Balcad).

Position Summary

The employee is expected to provide a high standard of promoting optimum medical records and retrieves existing medical records by gathering appropriate record folders and contents; assigning and recording new record numbers; verifying existing record numbers; inputting and recording locations to Books or computer; delivering records. The employee will also provide assistance to the Hospital Administrators and the other medical care team where appropriate, recognizing that the effective management of hospital depends on effective communication and participation of all members of the team.

Skills and Qualifications

Qualification and Job competencies:

  • Certificate in Health records and Information technology or equivalent
  • Computer literate
  • At least 2 years’ experience
  • Ability to retrieve file quickly
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Attention to detail
  • Verbal Communication Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions;
  • Written Communication – Writes clearly and informatively.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make sure patient information are entered accurately into the record
  • Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential
  • Sort and file patient data so it is easily retrievable by other members of the health care team.
  • Gather information from patients such as medical history, health complaints, test results and any prescribed treatments.
  • Entering patient data, such as patient history, demographics, disease information.
  • Medical records clerks likewise keep records up to date, organize and files as well as this information.
  • To rotate to all clinical areas within Medical Records Clarks Services
  • Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments
  • Keeps up-to-date with health care issues, particularly those issues affecting mothers and children such as nutrition URTI, LRTI, Diarrhea, and hygiene.
  • Keeps a stock of informative materials regarding health-related issues, for general use.
  • To work with senior medical staff so as to develop their supervision, training and management skills
  • At all times ensures that personal data of donors, sponsors, SOS CV beneficiaries and their families as well as SOS co-workers is handled confidentially and in accordance with prevailing SOS-Kinderdorf International data protection laws.
