Background and objectives
The volunteers will be tasked with teaching students that will be working to compete in Master’s Programs in Somalia at Accord University. Accord Univesity is the Academic wing of UNASOM. You will be expected to prepare your own lessons for your chosen courses, along with lesson planning, teach and marking tests, exams, and assignments that you choose to give to the students. Volunteers will be required to do the following tasks: – Give weekly lectures for the duration of the semester – Preparing, assessing, marking tests, exams, and assignments. – Since the Volunteering position is remote, one must be tech-savvy and capable of teaching in an online setting. – Taking time to answer students’ questions via your preferred mode of communication which is also convenient for the students.

Your Volunteering and services will enable UNASOM to achieve its basic objects which are: To stimulate the Association’s members and the public in general to support the principles and goals of the UN; To plead for peace maintenance, respect for human rights and freedoms, environmental protection, equal cooperation among nations and countries and for sustainable development and progress in the world, and to promote Somalia’s image in the world. We created an academic wing to try and raise the standards and quality of education in Somalia. It was created to help us reach our basic objectives. The Master’s Programs that we provide at Accord Univesity are as follows: – MASTER OF SECURITY INTELLIGENCE & STRATEGIC STUDIES – MASTER OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT – MASTER OF MONITORING AND EVALUATION – MASTER OF POLITICAL SCIENCE – MASTER OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND DIPLOMATIC STUDIES – MASTER OF PEACE STUDIES – MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK – MASTER OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE – MASTER OF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND DATA ANALYSIS – MASTER OF ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY – MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Volunteers: 25 needed
6-10 hours per week / 12 weeks
Volunteers are required to have a minimum of a Master’s degree in the related fields preferably previous teaching experience. The lecturer needs to be able to translate traditional course material to students in ways that are understood in the online environment. Computer skills, as well as familiarity with online course platforms, are vital. Online lecturers are expected to be able to promptly answer students’ questions through emails and other online messaging platforms.
