Objective of the Bid:

To invite potential and competent contractors for the compaction of earth dam in Abdifarah village under Odwayne village District, Togdheer Region.

Intervention area and key activities to be carried out:

WHH is going to implement rehabilitation of village water supply system in Abdi-farah village, there are about 500 HH living inside and around the village, most of the people are pastoralists, there are no other water sources which nearer to this village other than this earth dam.

The main objective of this activity is that the earth dam which is the main water source for this community to be rehabilitated well by means of compaction using roller equipment and as a result in the rainy season it can store and hold large amount of water that can be benefited by both the human and livestock.

there is an existing water supply system which contains the earth dam as the main water source, connected with piping system and pumping system, a reservoir, generator room, water points and animal troughs.

This village water supply system was implemented approximately more than 5 years ago but now it is not functioning due to:

More silt accumulated in the earth dam which caused that the earth dam could not hold the water for a longer period

At the moment there is no water pumping system in place and therefore there is a need for new pumping system particularly solar system water pumping system

The rising main pipes became old and rusted and therefore need to change.

Two projects of WHH are currently implementing some integrated water activities in this village, these projects are namely Som1034 and Som1038, using a nexus approach, Som1034 had executed cash for work activities in which the accumulated silt was removed from the earth dam by daily labourers from the village, this work has now completed and Som1038 project is ready to take over the implementation of rehabilitating the water components.

In order to make the earth dam hold the water in a long period, compaction of the entire dam will be carried out using roller, during this activity the entire dam will be applied water which will increase the soil moisture and then makes easy that the soil is well compacted.

As the rainy season is in the verge to start, this activity will be hastened as much as possible, after compaction works completed and the area receives sufficient rains it is expected that the earth dam will provide sufficient water to the targeted beneficiaries.

Description of the Tender

WHH is going to rehabilitate Abdi Farah earth Dam by carrying out compaction. The BoQs and other required documents for this bid are available in the downloadable link. BoQs/RFQ must be filled out and properly calculated to avoid arithmetic errors. Welthungerhilfe will have the right to award to the successful bidder depending on fulfillment of the evaluation criteria stipulated in the bid dossiers.

Failure to submit a bid containing all the required information and documentation within the deadline specified will lead to the rejection of the bid. No account can be taken of a reservation in the bid as regards the bid document; any reservation may result in the immediate rejection of the bid without further evaluation. The Organization reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.

Eligibility

Competent Contractors who have similar construction work experience, necessary technical and financial capabilities in association with the bid requirements. Furthermore, the contractors must have their renewed trade license certification and tax identification documents.

Note: The contractors are needed to stamp and sign their respective documents including the BoQs and other mandatory forms. Failure to comply this will lead an automatic disqualification.

Submission Procedure

All interested bidders are required to submit their corresponding bid documents in that by hand to our Hargeisa Office in Masale area behind Amabassador close to Djibouti Consulate. All documents must be stamped and sealed with a closed envelope. The deadline for this tender will be on 26.03.2022, at 4:30 pm (EAT).
