1. ORGANIZATION AND POSITION OVERVIEW

Welthungerhilfe is a German-based international non-profit humanitarian and development organization. The ultimate vision of Welthungerhilfe is to see a world without hunger and poverty. WHH has been working in four regions of Somaliland (Awdal, Maroodijeh, Togdheer and Sanaag) for more than 20 years with multisector interventions. It secures funding mainly from the German Government external cooperation (BMZ, AA) and private donors of Germany for its interventions in Somaliland. Objectives, duties, areas of responsibility.

1. Objectives of the position

The aim of the position is to support the field coordinators and/or technical experts in the implementation of the project/programme.

2. Duties and area of responsibility

2.1.     Duties with own area of responsibility

1. Act as the point of contact between the beneficiary group and the technical team, thereby gathering the needs expressed by the former

2. Support the design of activities for the different sectors in order to mobilize the communities

3. Carry out activities geared at motivating and sensitising the beneficiaries to the project activities

4. Organization (including close follow-up) of the different groups targeted by the project

5. Prepare regular communication about the project activities for the media, the population and partners

6. Assist the technical team in planning of trainings for the beneficiaries

7. Carry out surveys in the implementing area and collect data according to the needs of the project.

2.2        Duties without own area of responsibility

2. Represent WHH in the field with community leaders, local authorities, other humanitarian actors.
3. Perform any other duty that may be assigned from time to time

2.3        Specific activities and duties of the position / Position specific qualifications

1. Facilitate community mobilization, meetings and trainings before the food transfer activities

2. Work with food management committee to ensure WHH and WFP receive feedback from the beneficiaries on the project including

3. Sensitize the beneficiaries so that they are aware of project objectives, project modalities, entitlements, right to complain, complaint modalities and cash out days.

4. Conduct regular meetings with such entities, prepare minutes for sharing with the project Manager.

5. Work closely with community structures to follow up on implementation of food distribution, by maintaining and/or expanding WHH’s community outreach to ensure beneficiaries have one communication channel with the project team.

6. Coordinate the SCOPE Registration and distribution of SCOPE cards to targeted beneficiaries.

7. Timely report any irregularities to the Project Manager.

8. Prepare and submit weekly activity reports to the project manager

• JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Knowledge/ Qualifications

1.1        Professional/ formal qualification

• Secondary School with more than 2 years’ experience in humanitarian projects

• Bachelor’s degree in IT is an advantage

1.2        Job-related professional experience

• 1 – 2 years of professional work experience

• Good knowledge and experience in project implementation, livelihood, Food distribution, beneficiary registration.

1.3        Foreign language skills

• Ability to communicate in both English and Somali
