Senior Programme Associate G7 (Relief) – Mogadishu, Somalia
Job Description
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Support the coordination and implementation of emergency preparedness and relief activities that meet the varied needs of women, men, youth across urban and rural areas
2. Contribute to the development of anticipatory action interventions in coordination with humanitarian partners
3. Review and present project proposals for relief activities to the Project Review Committee and following up with Area Offices on issues raised by the Committee
4. Review monthly distribution plans for relief activities
5. Maintain an updated database of relief projects and status, electronic archives and paper files of related documents including all approved project proposals and signed Field Level Agreements and budgets
6. Provide project management support and liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of activities, with regular field travel to Area Offices and Field Offices
7. Participate in missions to project sites to monitor progress and assist Area Offices in resolving challenges
8. Prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
9. Participate in the development of the Humanitarian Response Plan — Food security component as well as related reporting
10. Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government in the areas of emergency preparedness and humanitarian response
11. Act as a point of contact for the resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.
12. Follow-up utilization of resources under relief project
13. Support processes for Accountability to Affected Populations, including provision of information, consultation and complaints and feedback related to livelihoods programmes and activities.
14. Contribute to end project reporting, and prepare inputs to regular reporting and communication processes such as weekly/monthly/quarterly Country Office reports and relevant briefing materials for missions and events
15. Prepare inputs to learning and accountability processes such as evaluations, reviews and audits; generation of lessons learnt and success stories
16. Perform other duties as required
Skills and Qualifications
Education: Completion of secondary school education. Certificate in Agriculture, urban and rural development, or other field relevant to humanitarian assistance..
Experience: 6 years of work experience. Relevant experience is preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Solid knowledge of humanitarian work, standards, and principles.
- Very good understanding of food security and related interventions.
- Experience working in fragile context and or emergency settings.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing.
- Solid analytical skills and capacity to synthesize complex information.
- Ability to plan and coordinate.
- Ability to work and deliver quality inputs under pressure
Language: English proficiency; Somali mother tongue.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Contract Duration: 1 year (Renewable)
