Duties

The Community Management and Digital Production Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (PAO or designee); has no supervisory responsibilities.  Is responsible for Mission flagship digital properties (social media, website content).  Researches Djibouti information consumption preferences; identifies optimal digital means to convey specific information content.  Organizes, produces, and occasionally hosts online conversations. Responsible production of Mission traditional and digital multimedia content; creates or acquires content for dissemination through digital media, through broadcast or print, or in person.  Provides informal on-the-job training to Public Diplomacy (PD) Public Engagement staff and other Mission personnel who engage with online communities on standards, regulations, and policies for the use of digital properties.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in a multilingual, multicultural or multinational organization is required.  Market research and audience analysis, and design and execution of online campaigns must have been significant components of the job.  Must have experience managing digital properties, including direct online interaction with the public, and content creation in multimedia and traditional formats.  [Note: candidates considered for this position must provide a portfolio of original work demonstrating visual and multimedia design competence.]

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Analytic skills:  Must have strong analytic skills to identify target audiences, understand their sensitivities, and identify the best strategic content, format, and delivery means to influence them in support of U.S. policy objectives.                                                            Communication/Interpersonal skills:  Must have strong interpersonal skills to maintain Mission-wide collaboration/coordination on the use of digital tools and platforms to strengthen Mission diplomacy in the public sphere.                                                                                                                      Management skills:  Strong organizational skills are required to: manage multiple engagement platforms at the same time, and actively engage with the public simultaneously on those platforms; incorporate strategic content from all Mission offices and agencies; and identify and resolve, or seek assistance in resolving, problems associated with online content and engagement.                                                                                                                            Technical skills:  Detailed knowledge of and ability to build out and manage Mission flagship digital properties, including social media and mobile platforms, and develop digital tools such as games and contests.

Availability:  Must be available to travel throughout Djibouti to develop professional contacts and create content (photo/video of ambassador’s travel, Public Diplomacy (PD) programs)

The U.S. Mission in Djibouti offers a generous compensation package that includes health, retirement and other benefits. In addition to the salary quoted above, the Embassy will pay a Transportation Allowance of DJF 137,500 per year and a Miscellaneous Benefits Allowance of DJF 176,100 per year.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
