| CHILD SAFEGUARDING:Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
Level 1: A basic criminal record background (DBS) check is required/equivalent police record check. Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a police check will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries). Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff. |

| ROLE PURPOSE:As an integral staff member of the Save the Children CSS, the Logistics Assistant will support the field team by undertaking technical and practical operational tasks to ensure smooth, safe and efficient operation of logistical activities in Adado office.In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. | ||
| SCOPE OF ROLE:Reports to: Supply Chain Officer
Staff reporting to this post:non Dimensions: Save the Children has been working in Somalia for more than 60 years. The Country Office has over 650 staff across 14 field offices (Boroma, Burao and Hargeisa in Somaliland; Bosasso, Gnarowe, Galkayo and Gardo in Puntland; Beletweyne in Hirshabelle, Adaado, Abudwak in Gal- Mudug, Baidoa in Southwest, Kismayo &Dhobley in Jubaland and Mogadishu in Banadir Administration) & Our Country Office coordination and administration base is in Mogadishu, Save the Children operates across all zones in Somalia and currently has three main area offices and additional 11 field offices. Programmatically Somalia is a large Country Office with more than $110million annual budget and staff over 650 staff. |

| KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES •With Help of Log Officer Receive procurement requests from different sections and prepare purchase plans with a view of ensuring cost effectiveness, timely procurement and quality of goods. •Work with Logistics officer and country Logs manager for the supplies to be procured from Nairobi or internationally. •Ensure procurement procedures are carried out in line with Save the Children policy and the Minimum Standards. • Ensure donor procurement policies, guidelines and specific requirements are strictly met. •Establishment and maintenance of ethical, professional working relationships with suppliers. •Monitor progress on contracts and remind both SCI management and other parties about end dates of framework contracts. •Ensure the implementation of procurement policies and procedures within the Adado office. •Review procurement plans to ensure that program activities are accomplished •Coordinate with Finance, Admin and program departments to ensure integrated internal controls, timely payment of vendors and full, auditable support documentation. •Ensuring that a transparent and responsive procurement process is implemented and maintained. •Routine communication, coordination and planning with the relevant requesting staff / programs regarding the order and delivery of supplies. •Ensuring that all Supplies, services and equipment’s required are delivered in time. •Maintain supplier information for regularly purchased items, and be informed of current local market conditions. •Support in Supplier selection, Supplier appraisal and contract formation Warehouse and Stocks Management
Fleet Management · Provide day-to-day supervision to the drivers to ensure that all the vehicles are properly cleaned, well maintained and driven/used as per the policies of the organization. · Ensure that the allocation of vehicles and drivers is done as per plan and in an effective manner in response to authorized transport requisitions. · Ensure that Logbooks are duly filled and Checklists are completed by the drivers on a daily basis and the information contained in them is collated and recorded in the appropriate manner. · In collaboration with the LO ensure that all vehicles receive scheduled preventative maintenance and faults are rectified efficiently. All vehicles, including the communications equipment, remain in operational condition at all times. · Assist the LO to ensure that the reports related to vehicles are generated as per deadlines and all records e.g. Logbooks, Maintenance Reports, Fuel Reports and Mileage Reports are well kept. Transportation & Freight · Arrange for transportation of goods and equipment’s between offices or to field sites and ensure that the goods are securely packaged and loaded to prevent damage during transportation. · Compile accurate documentation relating to the movement of items between locations, whether as a transfer or for distribution. General · Report, as required, on project work and any management issues arising in each assignment (to the area management teams) · Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, procurement and logistics, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures. · Ensure that all work is carried out in a way that is sensitive to community needs and gender and children issues. In particular to promote the full and equal participation of women and children in all aspects of the work. · Within reason, implement additional actions and responsibilities, as requested by your line manager. |

| QUALIFICATIONS· Diploma in business administration/management
· Previous experience of managing a similar logistic work. |

· Good English language command. · Good computer and writing skills. · Supportive personnel management style. · Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable: • Previous work experience in Adado district of Galgadud region is an asset
