Telecommunication Engineering Lab-Technician

DEPARTMENT/UNIT:

Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Amoud University

REPORTS TO:

The Dean of Faculty of Engineering

MAIN GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering is recruiting ambitious Telecommunication lab technician. The scope of work includes the installation, demonstration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and facilities related to the different engineering (the type of equipment depends on the department and the laboratory where the candidate is appointed). This is a hands-on role which will have the Laboratory Assistant working closely with faculty and students in laboratories and workshops.

The Laboratory Assistant sets up the lab in preparation for experiments and maintains supplies and documentations

Essentially this position requires its holder to possess good communication skills, punctuality, consistency, reliability, industriousness and efficiency with minimum supervision.

1. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The Telecommunication Technician shall under the general authority and guidance of the Dean of Faculty of Engineering;

3.1 Assists in the development of labs. Operational condition and maintenance of teaching equipment.

3.2 Support students and faculty in using machines, tools and equipment within the laboratory.

3.3 Supports faculty and students in resourcing and implementation phase of student projects, as required.

3.4 Create lab manuals, Health and Safety instructions and all other required manuals and instruction relevant to the discipline.

3.5 Receives, installs and maintains laboratory equipment and supplies.

3.6 Maintains a schedule of preventative maintenance for all equipment and keeps adequate manuals and maintenance logs for equipment and parts.

3.7 Provides teaching assistance to Faculty during workshops, laboratory and tutorial sessions

3.8 Perform teaching duties in his/her field or a closely related field as required.

3.9 Demonstrate the use of machines, tools and equipment within the lab
