  1. Objective

The overall objective is to hire prequalified list of casual workers for Save the Children in Somaliland area office which will help to conduct all casual works in the finance, Admin/HR & Supply Chain departments in the organization for (Hargeisa. Borama and Burao) Offices.

Therefore, SCI will recruit a qualified casual worker who will undertake respective casual works when there is a need on the above-mentioned fields and the period will be depending on the service length. There will be no mutuality of obligation for either the hiring organization to provide work or for the worker to undertake the work, casual workers are only compensated for time actually worked, which means the payment will be based on the working days.

The casual worker will be selected to work in Hargeisa, Burao or Borama based on their current location (While applying casual worker you are expected to indicate which field office (Hargeisa, Burao and Borama) you wish to provide service or work).

  1. Responsibilities
  1. The casual worker will occasionally be employed to do specific tasks or jobs
  2. Causal worker will have to agree with the terms and conditions of the job to get work – either verbally or in writing
  3. Casual worker will be under the supervision during their service with the organization
  4. Casual worker cannot send someone else on behalf of the to do their work in the event that they might not be available. if they can’t come they should inform the office on the changes
  5. The organization will provide materials, tools or equipment they need to do the work
  6. Follow all the SCI standard operating procedures including safeguarding policies and confidentiality all the time.
  1. Duties
  • Casual Cleaner
  • Cleans the rooms including the floors, windows, tables, furniture, toilet rooms, etc and remove the dust of all desk top computers, photocopier and other office equipment;
  • Ensures that the office facilities are well protected;
  • Ensures the availability of sanitation materials, coffee and sugar in the store;
  • Ensure that the reception areas are maintained in a clean and tidy state at all times
  • Make hot drinks and water available to the staff and SC guest
  • Casual Cook
  • Cleans food preparation areas as determined by SCI Safety Policy
  • maintain a neat, organized and well-stocked kitchen and pantry;
  • Prepares food on timely manner
  • Operates various kitchen appliance such as a blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer
  • The casual cook should know fundamental kitchen hygiene and be able to maintain a well-ordered and clean facility.
  • Casual Clerk
  • Stamping, scanning and photocopying documents when completed
  • Arranging documents into archive office
  • Any other work assigned by his/her line manager 
  • Casual IT/ Supply Chain
  • Examining faulty data processing equipment to identify faults and providing feasible solutions to such faults/problems
  • Installation & configuration of necessary software and ensure consistent usage throughout the office/s.
  • Ensure that all software’s in use are appropriate and in keeping with Save the Children guidelines, global IT Policy and meet the requirements of the programme.
  • Casual Driver
  • Maintains records of logbook for all journeys undertaken, fuel consumed, repair costs and ensures the logbook is available for inspection at any time;
  • Ensures that, at all times, the vehicle is equipped with a functioning jack wheel brace, and approved tool kit, at least one spare wheel with properly inflated tyres and approved first aid kit;
  • Before starting the vehicle’s engine each day, checks the level of engine oil, radiator, and windscreen washer water are adequate, etc;
  • Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean, inside and outside
  • Reports all accidents, vehicle damage or malfunction to the immediate supervisor;
  • Casual Guard
  • The causal guard will take responsibility to deter and detect any movement at the premises.
  • locks the doors properly and frequently checks the premises that always available in terms of changing shift and working overtime.
  • makes sure to check all the offices, compound and vehicles
  • makes sure before he leaves a proper hand over and updates also if there is a smooth flow of information. 
  1. Skills and Qualification
  2. Diploma or degree in any of the relevant fields i.e. Business Administration, Information Technology, procurement and basic accounting knowledge. High school diploma and some college required
  3. Light Vehicle Driving license for the casual driver
  4. Prior experience in undertaking above different duties is required.
  5. He/she must be a Somali national
  6. Good team player
  7. Displays exemplary positive behaviours for consistency, predictability and reliability at work to complete assignments and meet deadlines
  8. Deliverables:
  • Excellent service to be provided during the assignment
  • To work effectively with the team
  • Adhere to the SCI policy and procedures
  • Work completion and meeting the specific objectives
