Reports to: SCI – CP & CRG Programme Manager-SS Staff directly reporting to this post: One Project officer Role Dimensions: Save the Children works in almost all regions in Somalia/Somaliland with a current staff complement of approximately 650 staff and a current expenditure of approximately US$ 120 million each year. ROLE PURPOSE: Together for Inclusion (TOFI) is a consortium of Disabled Persons Organisations (DPOs) and International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGOS) led by the Atlas Alliance, a Norwegian umbrella organisation for DPOs working internationally. It will be implemented in six countries (Somalia, Uganda, Mozambique, South Sudan and Niger) in the period 2020-2022. The consortium of DPOs and INGOs focuses on strengthening the rights of persons with disabilities within three thematic areas: Human Rights Advocacy, Inclusive Education and Economic Empowerment. In Somalia, Save the Children International (SCI), , and Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) are implementing a project that aims to remove the barriers that exclude children living with disabilities from accessing safe, quality and inclusive education. The organisations will work closely together to provide capacity building, organisational development, and advocacy support to the targeted Disabled Persons’ Organisations (DPOs) in Somalia. DPOs will get training and support to advocate for the rights of Persons with Disabilities to by the government. The federal government will be supported to develop a Disability Policy and the Puntland regional government to develop a Disability Act, ensuring active involvement of DPOs. The organisations will also support the introduction and piloting of a new teacher training methodology on inclusive education in Somalia, using lessons learnt from Zambia and Zanzibar, and support the capacity building of local DPOs on inclusive education. SCI is looking for a one-year, full-time coordinator for the Together for Inclusion programme in Somalia. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
