Job Title: Veterinary Assistant
Direct Line Manager: Business Development and coordination Officer
Location: Mogadishu
Job Summary:
The Assistant veterinary supports the implementation of climate adapted commercial livestock and fodder projects by planning, coordinating and ensuring the delivery of activities. The assistant vet officer also provides monitoring and evaluation of the project to ensure the achievement of the project’s outputs and ensure communication and reporting on the project’s implementation. The p officer also contributes to maintaining working relations with stakeholders in the project target location..
Key Areas of Responsibilities
The main tasks of the position of Assistant veterinary will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Develop basic training packages on veterinary on animal keeping.
- Perform assessments to identify potential in the field of income generation, especially in the livestock sector.
- Training of selected staff and community members on livestock modern management/husbandry.
- Support livestock cooperative members in livestock production management and to set up linkage between producers and traders in livestock production cycle
Qualifications and Experience
The Vet officer will need to demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, skills and competencies: Essential:
- Possess diploma of Veterinary Medicine.
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in the relevant field.
- Good knowledge of livestock production cycle and field experience with farmers.
- Excellent knowledge in veterinary extension especially participatory approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team work and team building skills and ability to work in the field.
- Good written, spoken skills and knowledge of English language.
