Position Summary:

The volunteer doctor will participate in the clinical evaluation and care of patients in a variety of care settings with sufficient frequency to achieve the competencies required and works under supervision and instruction of the section in-charge doctor and the senior doctors’ general guidance in the pediatrics department.

Main Purpose:

The goal of the volunteer Doctor program in pediatrics is to provide educational experiences in the diversified field of pediatrics in an intellectual environment conductive to learning the exemplary practice of pediatrics. This is accomplished by providing an organized, progressive educational experience with increasing patient care responsibilities.

Key Area of Responsibility:

Volunteer Doctors will do:

• History taking, physical Examinations, interpretations of common diagnostic tests and documents patient care with senior Doctor.
• Evaluate new admission and coordinates with senior doctor plan of investigation to establish a diagnosis and a management course.
• Attends daily word/unit rounds.
• Review frequently patients’ conditions and progress with reporting/consult senior Doctor all complicated cases immediately.
• Respond immediately to clinical emergencies within all units in the pediatric department with consultant of senior doctor.
• Advising patient’s parents and guardians on diets, activities, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Assist to refer complicated cases to medical specialist when necessary
• Coordinate activities of nurses & students.
• Assist night duty staff in providing patient care.

Desirable: Good experience in IMCI, ETAT+ & NRP have preferable value
