Position title                  :      Volunteer Midwife (5 Positions)

Reporting to                  :      Head Nurses and Midwife

Location                         :      Heliwa

Supervisees                   :      Non

Position Summary:

Under the Head nurses and midwife direct supervision, the volunteer Nurses will learn Relevant nursing skills and lead to a lifelong opportunity for service.

Main Purpose:

To provide an opportunity to develop new skill or build on existing experience and knowledge,

offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them

Priority Task and Responsibilities:

1. Examining and monitoring pregnant women
2. Assessing care requirement and writing care plans
3. Taking care and assisting women in labour
4. Participate full, without exception in all clinical activities
5. Perform procedures under supervision of clinical mentor
6. Assist the primary care provider with procedures as needed
7. Intake including height/weight, vital signs, patient history and medication reconciliation
8. Prepare patients for provider exam
9. Dispense medications and administer injections as prescribed by the primary care provider
10. Provide patient instruction, educational materials and community referral resources
11. Ensure complete and proper documentation of all patient care and instruction in patient medical records
12. Observe patients right to privacy and confidentiality at all time
13. Be respectful and courteous to client/patient
14. Provide quality health care without discrimination because of race, gender, religion, or source of payment
15.  Do not harm at all time to patients attending in the hospital.
16. Follow universal precautions, infection control principles and general clinic policies.
17. Obtain informed consent for all procedures.
