Job Description
SOS Children’s Villages invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates who fulfill the eligibility criterion for Volunteer Nurses,
Position title : Volunteer Nurses (10 Positions)
Reporting to : Head Nurses and Midwife
Location : Heliwa
Supervisees : Non
Position Summary:
Under the Head nurses and midwife direct supervision, the volunteer Nurses will learn Relevant nursing skills and lead to a lifelong opportunity for service.
Main Purpose:
To provide an opportunity to develop new skill or build on existing experience and knowledge,
offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them
Priority Task and Responsibilities:
- Participate full, without exception in all clinical activities
- Perform procedures under supervision of clinical mentor
- Assist the primary care provider with procedures as needed
- Intake including height/weight, vital signs, patient history and medication reconciliation
- Prepare patients for provider exam
- Dispense medications and administer injections as prescribed by the primary care provider
- Provide patient instruction, educational materials and community referral resources
- Ensure complete and proper documentation of all patient care and instruction in patient medical records
- Observe patients right to privacy and confidentiality at all time
- Be respectful and courteous to client/patient
- Provide quality health care without discrimination because of race, gender, religion, or source of payment
- Do not harm at all time to patients attending in the hospital.
- Follow universal precautions, infection control principles and general clinic policies.
- Obtain informed consent for all procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Nurse
- Good counselling and communication skills
- Observing client confidentiality and privacy
- Good experience in IMCI & ETAT Able to provide Basic Life Support to women and newborns
Personal Qualities & Attributes:
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure
- A good communicator with other midwives, doctors, support staff, individuals, families and Para patients.
- Very good organization skills
- Team player
- Able to work with minimal supervision
