MSF Sool Project in Las Anod is looking for:

Job Title	: Watsan Technician – (Based in Lasanod with possible frequent travel around Somaliland)
Number of positions	: One
Level	: 4 (on MSF salary scale)
Work Location	: Las Anood, for supporting Las Anood General Hospital, Somaliland.
Start date	: March 2022 (if recruitment process is completed on time).
Length of contract	: 10 months fixed term contract with possibility to extend, 2 months proportion period extendable

for one extra month based on the performance.

The selected candidate will be reporting to Watsan Supervisor / Project Medical activity manager Coordinator (Hierarchically) & Project medical referent / Mission watsan referent (Functionally).

Main Purpose: Supporting the Watsan Supervisor / MAM in the implementation, monitoring, maintaining, and trouble-shooting of Water Hygiene Sanitation activities and infrastructure in the project according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population

Other tasks include, but not limited to:

Carrying out tasks directly related to the Watsan activities such as construction and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to MSF protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control.
Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the Watsan structures and when applicable, of the medical facilities; These includes ;
Identifying, recruiting, training and supervising daily laborers or hygiene agents for Watsan activities
Informing the Watsan Supervisor of any difficulties, anomalies and problems that may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area of responsibility;
Assisting the Watsan Supervisor in Watsan data collection and reporting, as well as maintaining updated files and records of assigned project activities.

Being responsible for equipment, tools, and consumables, verifying that they are safely used and maintained. Reporting to the supervisor any need of renewal and the weekly/monthly consumption

Specific Responsibilities and Tasks:

cleaning and maintenance of the Watsan structures and when applicable, of the medical facilities; These includes ;
All the hospital septic tanks, manholes, grease traps and soak away pits.
Direct support to the Implementation of SOP specific to managing the disposal of placenta..
Keeping up to date monitoring and reporting water quality parameters as required by the SOP.
Monitoring the functioning of all the facilities in the waste zone (the pits, glass crusher, safety box reducer, placenta pit, and the incinerator).
Monitoring the waste loads (amount of hospital waste generated and disposed at the waste zone) using the monitoring tools provided.

Requirements :( Candidates MUST be from Somaliland and able to travel Las Anod/Sool Region, as well as within Somaliland when required)

Education	Essential: Technical certification or proven background, desirable specialization in water and sanitation
Experience		Essential: 2 year working experience in technical works
Languages		Essential: Fluent in English & Somali
