  • Scope of Work

The Data Analyst will work closely with the Salaam IT Operations team and report to the head of the department. The Data Analyst work involves bringing technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy of data, design, and process and present it in ways to help overall bank customers, management, division managers, bank businesses portfolio, and ultimately make the bank management, board of directors and group to make better decisions. The Data Analyst is expected to collect and protect data on a variety of areas including transaction numbers, market research and analysis, logistics, finance, or other activities that are deemed necessary to undertake Data Analysis.

Data Analyst (Job Reference No SSB/SA/004/22)
The Bank is seeking an experienced Data analyst. The Data Analyst will work closely with the Salaam IT Operations team and report to the head of the department. This candidate will be responsible for: 

  • Analyzing and exploring data
  • Expertise in statistics
  • Analyzing and visualizing data
  • Reports and dashboards
  • Communication and writing
  • Expertise in the domain

Key Skills and tools

  • Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize, and analyze data 
  • Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Oracle, and Python
  • Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing
  • Knowledge of how to create and apply the most accurate algorithms to datasets in order to find solutions 

Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology

Professional Certificates: CompTIA Data+, Microsoft Data Analyst Associate, or Certified Data Professional (CDP)

  • Principal Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the FINTECH Manager to ensure smooth operation of all bank, department and management strategy matters
  • Establish usage of Software / App Developing (.Net C#) ASP.NET, JAVA, Mobile app development tools on both android and IOS, Oracle PLSQL, and T-SQL.
  • Analyzing and exploring data

  • Provide quality assurance of imported data, working with quality assurance analysts if necessary
  • Processing bank confidential data and information according to bank guidelines.
  • Helping other divisions and departments develop reports and analyses.
  • Managing and designing the bank reporting environment, including data sources and security.
  • Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization
  • Work with FINTECH developers on the bank system designs needs
  • Recommend and execute Data Analysis improvements
  • Generating reports from single or multiple systems 
  • Evaluating changes and updates to source production systems.
  • Training other employees on new reports and dashboards.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, performance standards and specifications.
  • Communicate with the FINTECH Manager on a regular basis to ensure that agreed Departmental plans are implemented in accordance with the Bank’s Objectives and strategy.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, and personnel’s performance) and report regularly to the FINTECH Manager
  • Follow up on the implementation of assigned tasks and achievement of set goals. 
  • Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to this role 

 

  • Period of Performance

The role of the Data Analyst Contract will be for approximately 1 year on a full-time basis. His/her contract is eligible for possible extension.

  • Qualification
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology or a relevant field
  • CompTIA Data+, Microsoft Data Analyst Associate, or Certified Data Professional (CDP).
  • Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize, and analyze data 
  • Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Oracle, and Python
  • Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing
  • Knowledge of how to create and apply the most accurate algorithms to datasets in order to find solutions 
  • Work experience as a data analyst or methodologies and processes for managing large-scale databases.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.
  • Ability to work with employees, customers and stakeholders to assess potential risks. 
  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms.
