  • Scope of Work

The Database Administrator expected to is expected to be able to oversee one or more system environments including development, production, proactively analyze, monitor, and implement the design and architecture of database structures. The Database Administrator is to keep the bank database up and running smoothly and provide a seamless flow of information throughout the bank. The Database Administrator is also expected to ensure that all databases, including those for financial or customer information, stay up-to-date in line with the bank Data Protect Policy with the aim to protect against data loss.

 

Job Specification

Database Administrator (Job Reference No SSB/SA/003/22)

The Bank is seeking an experienced Database Administrator. In this role, the candidate is expected to be able to oversee one or more system environments including development, production, and proactively analyze, monitor, and implement the design and architecture of database structures.

Requirement for Database Administrator

  • Over 3 years of working experience in Oracle DB administrator, SQL, PLSQL, and MSSQL.
  • Being an expert in Linux environment, Windows 
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication skills

Degree: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science or Computer Engineering

Professional Certificates: OCA, OCP, OCM, or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator.

  • Principal Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the FINTECH Manager to ensure smooth operation of all bank, department, and management strategy matters
  • Demonstrate usage in Oracle DB administrator, SQL, PLSQL, and MSSQL.
  • Being an expert in Linux environment, Windows 
  • Ensure that the bank databases run efficiently and securely.
  • Design and implement a database in accordance to end users’ information needs and views
  • Define employee users and enable data distribution to the right employee, in an appropriate format and in a timely manner
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Work with FINTECH developers about the bank system designs needs
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
  • Minimise database interruptions and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Recommend and execute database improvements
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, performance standards and specifications
  • Communicate with FINTECH on a regular basis to ensure that agreed Departmental plans are implemented in accordance with the Bank’s Objectives and strategy.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, and personnel’s performance) and report regularly to the FINTECH Manager
  • Follow up on implementation of assigned tasks and achievement of set goals. 
  • Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to this role 

 

  • Period of Performance

The role of the Database Administrator Contract will be for approximately 1 year on a full-time basis. His/her contract is eligible for possible extension.

  • Qualification
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a relevant field
  • Over 3 years of working experience in Oracle DB administrator, SQL, PLSQL, and MSSQL.
  • Being an expert in Linux environment, Windows 
  • Professional Certificates: OCA, OCP, OCM, or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator 
  • Proven working experience as a Database Administrator
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Familiarity with programming languages
  • Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks 
  • Previous experience with Doing Business as (DBA) case tools
